VishwaKiran and Rohan Raj, from NRITARUTYA choreograph for play-Balura Gudikara
Commissioned by the Norwegian Embassy, an adaptation of Henrik Ibsen’s The Master Builder, Balura Gudikara, tells the tale of a builder, with a huge ego, who is cut down to size. Karnataka’s folk form of “Veeragase” is adapted into Balura Gudikara and is reflected in its distinct musicality ,dance compositions and also characterized in its heavy costumes.
Vishwa appreciates the efforts of the dancers in the play, who are non trained and yet were able to cope with the myriad patterns of movements. He adds “ The experience is a learning curve, I had every opportunity to be as creative as I could, making sure the flow of the play is intact. If there was something that I learnt from this, it was that “You have to know how it ends; before you begin”.”
