About Nritarutya.

Formed in 2000 by Mayuri and Madhuri Upadhya, Nritarutya is one of India’s foremost dance companies creating innovative, visceral and ethereal experiences which widen the perceptions of dance. Our artistic creations celebrate India’s cultural magnificence and weave innovation in tradition. At the same time, our education wing works towards conditioning, and providing access to the younger generation of dance enthusiasts through our numerous training and development projects. Nritarutya has gone stronger with every passing day under the artistic direction of Mayuri Upadhya, performing at the biggest platforms in our country and across the world.

For us, innovation in creativity is our guiding principle. Grounded by our traditional forms yet empowered by the modern, we interpret our cultural surroundings in a myriad of creative ways. Our wings go as wide, as our roots go deep, as we embrace the known and seek the unknown, moulding the generations to come with our movement philosophy.

Our team of exceptional dancers, which is at the core of Nritarutya, weave stories with their bodies and create a sublime connection with the audience transcending boundaries and traditions. Inspired by India’s classical and folk forms, our movement language is embellished with contemporary, finding resonance with every culture.

Thank you to the Mu Sigma Foundation for their generous support of Nritarutya’s artistic journey
