How do you know if your hip is weak? Our in-house physiotherapist Masoom suggests three simple, do-it-yourself tests to determine if your hip needs help.
NUMBER 1: Do a one-legged squat.
RESULT: If your knee collapses inward, your hips are probably weak.
NUMBER 2: Stand with your right food on a step/foot stool and the left dangling in the air. Place your hands on your hips. Now slowly raise your left hip up and then release it back down.
RESULT: If you can not do two sets of ten repetitions without holding onto a support for balance, your hips are weak.
NUMBER 3: Sit on the edge of a bench and lie back. Pull your right leg in to your chest, let your left leg hang down.
RESULT: If your left thigh lifts off the table, your hips are tight.
